MetaZoo

Obsidian National Forest
In 2018, JoJo acted as producer for the first season of Obsidian National Forest, working with series creator Andrew Ihla to bring ten episodes of independent film to life. Obsidian National Forest is a dark comedy series combining puppetry and animation to tell the story of a mysterious forest where some very bad things have happened…and the owls who are too dumb to realize any of that. Season two is currently in development, and new episodes are being released as they are completed.
“The past is veiled. The night is dark. The owls aren’t too bright, either.”
JoJo’s role as producer involves helping Andrew with story development, script supervision, and visual development. She’s designed and built several of the puppets and props for the show, and also acts as a member of the voice cast, playing the characters Evelyntine the owl, Truman the vole, Tina the bat, Claire the egret, Gentry the owlet, and the raccoon Morgan the Scratched.
The Abettor’s Letters: French
In 2013, JoJo worked with the educational software startup Beach Alt Ed to develop a game demo for “The Abettor’s Letters: French”, a point-and-click adventure game intended to engage the player in practicing foreign language skills in order to solve mysteries and save the day.
JoJo designed all characters for the game demo, and illustrated them in watercolor, along with some props and scenic detail. During this time, JoJo also contributed to story and gameplay development, storyboarded game cutscenes, and served as de-facto art director for the project.
The Abettor’s Letters: French game demo is available for free on the App Store, exclusive for iPad.
